Overall Purpose:
Performance improvement processes are most effective when
incorporated into everyday work activities. Professionals who
learn these processes are able to easily incorporate
performance improvement into their patient care, and thus
contribute to healthcare quality improvement.
This presentation reviews the current industry standards for
performance improvement processes.
This knowledge can also be utilized during a professional's
career development while pursuing certification in healthcare
quality (CPHQ).
Objectives:
After studying the materials, the learner will be able to
- Identify the key components of Process Improvement
(Assess, Plan, Implement, Evaluate) within in the Deming
Cycle.
- Differentiate between the Deming Cycle and at least one
other Performance Improvement Process.
This course takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to
complete and offers 1.56 contact hours for successful
completion. These contact hours are accepted by many
professional bodies; however, contact hours for nursing will
not be available after 08-24-2010.
