ORYX Measures and National Patient Safety Goals

Overall Purpose:
This activity presents detailed information on the metrics,
definitions, collection requirements and other specifications
of the National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) and of ORYX©
measures.
Nurses with detailed knowledge of the national quality
metrics will be able to contribute to healthcare quality
improvement at their workplace.  This knowledge can also
be utilized during the nurse’s career development while
pursuing certification in healthcare quality (CPHQ).


Objectives:
After studying the materials, the learner will be able to
  • Identify data collection issues with NPSG and ORYX©
    measures
  • Analyze causes for negative trends in NPSG and
    ORYX© measures at their home facility.


This course takes approximately 2 hours to complete and
will offer 2 contact hours for successful completion.
