Overall Purpose:
Improving the quality of delivered healthcare requires
objective self-appraisal. Self-examination is easier with a
structured process to follow, such as Failure Mode Effects
Analysis (FMEA).
Healthcare professionals who learn this process will be able
to proactively address risk in their workplace and thus
contribute to healthcare quality improvement. This
presentation reviews the current healthcare industry
standards for a FMEA process.
This knowledge can also be utilized during the a
professional's career development while pursuing
certification in healthcare quality (CPHQ).
Objectives:
After studying these materials, the learner will be able to

Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Plan a risk analysis and FMEA event at their facility
