Overall Purpose:
Transparency of quality data in healthcare is a reality. Nurses
with detailed knowledge of the national quality metrics will be
able to contribute to healthcare quality improvement at their
workplace. This activity presents an overview of the CMS
Hospital Quality Initiative as well as detailed information on the
metrics involved (“the CORE Measures”).
This knowledge can also be utilized during the nurse’s career
development while pursuing certification in healthcare quality
(CPHQ).
Objectives:
After studying the materials, the learner will be able to
- Identify individual measures for each CORE Measure set.
- Analyze CORE Measure data collection issues at their
home facility.
